bykatty.com is run by Art by Katty, LLC (“By Katty”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect through this site and our emails, and what we do with it.
What we collect
When you place an order, create an account, sign up for our newsletter, or write to us by email or through our contact or wholesale forms, we collect what you give us: your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number if you add one, your order history, and anything you tell us in a message or application. If you add a gift message, we keep it with the order and print it on the packing slip that goes in the box.
Payments
Checkout runs on Shopify. When you press Checkout you move to checkout.bykatty.com, a page Shopify hosts for us, and your card is processed there by Shopify Payments. Your card details are entered on Shopify's page and never reach our servers; we see only that the order was paid. If you choose Shop Pay, Shopify keeps your details in your Shop account so you can check out faster next time. That account is with Shopify, covered by Shopify's privacy policy, and you can close it at any time.
To open checkout faster, we prepare your Shopify checkout in the background while you're on the cart or Build a Set page. This sends your cart and your IP address to Shopify before you press Checkout and, if you're signed in, the name, email, phone and address saved in your account, so checkout opens filled in.
Who we share it with
Apart from the card from Faire on our wholesale page (see below), we share personal information only with the services that run the shop for us, and only what each one needs: Shopify (orders, payment, checkout and order-status emails), Railway (hosts this website and its database, including accounts and newsletter sign-ups), Google Workspace (our email inbox, which holds anything you send us and the messages from our contact and wholesale forms), Resend (the email service that delivers our account, wholesale and contact messages), Plausible Analytics (counts visits; see below), and the carrier that delivers your package (USPS or UPS receive the name and address on the label). We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Our wholesale page shows a card from Faire, the marketplace where shops can buy from us wholesale. The card loads from faire.com, so when you open that page your browser connects to Faire, which receives your IP address, your browser's details and that the card is on bykatty.com, records that the card was shown and anything you click in it, and may set its own cookies. Faire's privacy policy covers what it collects.
Visit statistics
We use Plausible Analytics to count visits to bykatty.com. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. For each page view it receives the page address (with any email address or code removed before it leaves your browser), the site that referred you, and your IP address and browser's user-agent, which it uses to work out your country, region or city and your type of browser and device, and to count unique visitors for the day. It also counts how far down a page you scroll, how long the page stays open, and a few actions such as adding a card to your cart, going to checkout or sending one of our forms. It receives no names, email addresses or order details, and does not store your IP address.
Cookies
bykatty.com sets two kinds of first-party cookies and no advertising pixels: bk_cart_sid keeps your cart between visits (60 days), and sign-in and security cookies keep you logged in and protect our forms (some are set on your first visit, even if you never sign in) and last until you sign out or they expire. Our visit counter sets no cookies. When you press Checkout, the site also notes in your browser's session storage when you left for checkout (no personal data; it is gone when you close the tab, if not sooner), so we can spot a checkout that didn't open. If the site is updated while you're changing your cart, the page reloads itself: the change you just made (the cards and quantities, or the order note or gift message you typed) is kept in your browser's session storage so it can be saved after the reload (it is used only within two minutes, and is gone when you close the tab, if not sooner), and the time of the reload is noted there so it happens only once. Checkout happens on checkout.bykatty.com, which Shopify operates; Shopify sets its own cookies there to keep your checkout session, for Shopify's own analytics and, if you use Shop Pay, to recognise you. Shopify's cookie policy lists them. On our wholesale page, Faire's card may set Faire's own cookies (see above).
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at any time: hello@bykatty.com. We pass the request on to Shopify and Resend and delete our own copies, including emails in our inbox, so it covers every system, and confirm when it is done. We keep only your request and our reply, as a record that it was handled. Deleted information leaves our backups within about a month.
Do Not Track
We don't track you across other sites or share data for advertising, so Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals don't change anything here.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top.
